Ruger is gonna have the strongest aftermarket support hands down. I'd like the Ruger better if it had a fixed barrel. At least the Ruger has it's irons on the barrel but any optics mount to the receiver. I have a Ruger Charger Takedown and while the pistol is great I'm less impressed with the repeatability of my takedown barrel, especially when using a bipod that mounts to the barrel and not the receiver. I've tried mounting a compact scope up high to clear the rear sight and it didn't work for me.ĭoes the Ruger have any adjustment for LOP? The CX4 uses spacers and usually comes with two. Sights do fold down out of the way but the ears makes mounting magnified optics very hard. I think my biggest complaint would be the iron sights and the ears they sit between.

I'm not sure how a Ruger breaks down but the CX4 is easy to open up by hand, no tools.ĬX4 also has ambi charge handle & ejection port, big plus for lefties or guys like me who want both ejection port and charge handle on the right side. Trigger isn't great but can be lightened with a file in 10 minutes, a very simple procedure that does not require any trigger disassembly, just separate the upper & lower. Mine is one of the most accurate 9mm PCCs I own, overall length is close to a braced pistol or SBR. The rear and front sight ears are always going to be in the way of a rail-mounted sight. I can't move my hand around far enough to hit the button.įor the same reason, I can't put the gun on safe with my right hand due to the safety location. I simply cannot hit the magazine release with my right hand, thanks to the thumbhole design of pistol grip. The CX4 is undeniably cool, but suffers some ergnomic flaws IMO. The fire control pack is adapted from the 10/22 so there is parts commonality. The takedown feature makes the gun very handy to clean and transport. The mag catch and charging handle can be used from either side. It also has a threaded muzzle and a front sight that can easily be replaced, held on with 2 screws. You also have magazine type interchangeability, not that this is a big deal for me, but it does allow the reliable and cheap Glock 30 round mags to be used. The trigger is perfect, the stock is handy and well thought out, and the gun will run on a very wide variety of ammo.
